Julian Penney of Pharos will be joining the speaker line up at the RLSS Water Safety Conference for the Outdoor Education Sector 2016. A packed programme of sessions and workshops will cover various themes associated with the risk management of activity around water in the outdoor education sector.

The excellent Royal Life Saving Society is a drowning prevention charity and amongst its services, it provides water safety education. Prior to 2011, Julian Penney was involved in the design of the RLSS National Water Safety Management Programme which gives modular training to professionals from a range of sectors including school field trips, construction, environmental health, leisure and the emergency services.

Putting these figures into context one person dies every 20 hours in the UK and drowning is the leading cause of accidental death of children in the UK (source RLSS).
