About

About Pharos Response

Pharos Response is a specialist risk, reputation and crisis management consultancy focused on helping organisations in the education, youth, travel and adventure sectors to prevent, prepare for and respond to critical incidents.

How it Began

A lighthouse guiding the way

PHAROS principals Julian and Chris worked together in an expedition company before they were involved in its sale to the world’s largest travel company in 2009. With Julian’s specialist operations and health and safety background as an army officer and expedition leader, and Chris’ considerable experience in crisis communications, it wasn’t long before PHAROS RESPONSE was born.

The aim was to offer risk, reputation and crisis response services to help other organisations that may not have access to the extraordinary crisis management experience that Julian and Chris had built up over many years.

PHAROS RESPONSE has grown thanks to an excellent reputation spread primarily by word of mouth and managed to fend off the considerable challenges presented by the COVID pandemic. Julian, Chris and the PHAROS team remain committed to providing excellent service at fair prices and to remain focused on the education, youth, travel and adventure sectors that they know so well.

We are often asked, why the name ‘Pharos’? Well, Pharos is Ancient Greek, pronounced ‘Pha-ros’, meaning ‘lighthouse’. Of course, lighthouses are designed to guide people away from harm, which is exactly what we aim to do.

Our People

In the event of any complex problem, critical incident or crisis, it is essential to have good people around who can help immediately. We surround ourselves with people we know have been there, done it and who won’t let you down. All the PHAROS team have been or remain active practitioners in their respective fields, which is important as the risk management consultancy we provide to clients benefits from this current experience.

PHAROS training courses are packed with lessons learned from helping clients respond to their real world incidents. Although we can share the lessons, we’ll never reveal specific details about our clients as we treat their confidentiality very seriously indeed. Our client relationships are based heavily on trust, as often we become party to their most sensitive information.

Hopefully your organisation won’t be dealing with serious incidents all the time, but we are. It is a privilege to be able to use our crisis management experience to help our clients when they need it most. Helping to protect the welfare of their staff and customers as well as the reputation of their business in the hours and days following a critical incident. We are trusted partners with hundreds of clients, from industry leading brands to one-man bands. Naturally, all our team are vetted and hold Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service checks.

We look forward to discussing how we can help you to meet your risk, reputation and crisis management needs.
