Health and Safety Advisor – Education. Full-time, Midlands and home-based
Are you an experienced H&S professional who has worked in, or on behalf of schools, colleges, charities or other similar facilities? Are you able to inspire confidence in non-H&S senior management with your professional approach, practical advice and support whilst also being happy to ‘roll your sleeves up’ if needed to assist colleagues?
We are looking for a combination of experience and people skills, so if you pride yourself in providing professional health and safety services whilst understanding how customer service complements your technical skills and knowledge, we’d be keen to talk to you!
You will hopefully have a minimum of three years’ successful health and safety management experience, ideally within education or other similar regulated sectors involving the safety of young people. You will have a NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) and may be working towards higher qualifications.
Although our office is based in Wokingham, this role will require the successful candidate to work remotely from home and our clients’ sites, primarily across the Midlands. Although this provides some flexibility, it also will require you to be proactive and at times, identify tasks without being directed to do so and to liaise directly with our highly regarded clients, both remotely and face to face. You will be able to fluently explain health and safety to customers without making it sound unnecessarily complicated, and be confident in correcting poor or non-compliant practice in a ‘human’ way. Attention to detail, competent use of day-to-day IT systems and good written and verbal communications will all be natural if you are the right person for the job.
We’re a small team making a big impact on an increasing number of clients, helping them to prevent, prepare for and respond to incidents in the UK and overseas. Our clients include leading independent schools, Multi Academy Trusts, the government’s National Citizen Service (NCS), well known brands (and one-man bands) across the youth, adventure, travel and charity sectors. More information can be found on our website.
So in summary, we’re looking for a ‘self-starting’ home-based team member to be the lead consultant in delivering our H&S service level agreements with schools and other clients as we expand this portfolio. The role will involve frequent travel primarily (but not exclusively) in and around sites in the East and West Midlands, and occasional meetings at our offices in Wokingham, from where you will receive the administrative and line management support you need to succeed in the role.
If you’re still ticking all the boxes, please scroll down and get in touch – this could be the one for you!
