Course summary
This fun and highly engaging two-day, in-person course aims to help staff responsible for planning and/or delivering off-site activities, trips and visits to make these experiences safer for the young people and others taking part.
Be prepared to roll your sleeves up with a range of practical tasks designed to highlight the risk issues you might encounter in an off-site or residential setting, this is much more than the normal classroom-based training!
Accredited by the Royal Geographical Society (RGS), the original course was designed in response to concerns about safety on off-site activities. Pharos has enhanced the standard syllabus to make it specific for the adventure/travel/youth sectors, including the application of ‘hands-on’ risk assessments through practical tasks. It is far from a normal health and safety training course and although the course covers the core H&S legislation, it explores how these can enable rather than block good quality activities, adventures and trips.
The course brings the legislation to life by providing an opportunity for attendees to explore its application in relevant practical situations and scenarios. It aims to equip attendees with the ability to apply knowledge, understanding and problem solving skills in a range of contexts. The training also fully complements the resources on the National Youth Agency Safeguarding and Risk Management Hub here, drafted by Pharos Response.
Appropriate for those working in a range of different situations where they are responsible for taking children/young people/adults out of their everyday environments.
Delivered by Pharos Response; the crisis management experts who know only too well what happens when risks aren’t managed effectively.
Lunch, refreshments and certificates included. Overnight accommodation is not provided.
