First Decade of Pharos Response
The Pharos team recently celebrated its ten year birthday. Previously, ten years didn’t seem much of a milestone, despite the scary statistics of businesses that fail during this time. However, after surviving the Covid years and getting everything back on track, we felt like we deserved a party! An opportunity to meet with as many people who helped Pharos to get where it is today as possible. Former colleagues, advisors, partnership organisations and clients who have in one way or another shaped what Pharos has become.
A glimpse into the next decade
This event provided a platform for Pharos to unveil its new TravelAid travel safety service for gap year and independent travellers. A glimpse into the next ten years for Pharos, but this event was not about business, it was always intended to be a relaxed environment to pause and reconnect with people we’ve rarely seen (if at all) in person over the past three years.
Floating views of London
It was fantastic to have so many connections made over the years in one place and we were genuinely honoured that so many people had given up their time to join us. The venue was a boat on the Thames moored opposite the London Eye, which offered incredible nighttime views of London. With an impressive mix of people from the risk management, safety, youth, education, adventure, and travel sectors, it was incredible to see how many joint connections there were and what a small world we live in! Inevitably, some people we’d have loved to have been there weren’t able to make it, and they were missed.
Honoured by incredible people
However, when we looked around the room it was humbling to see pioneers who helped establish UK outdoor education alongside some of today’s leading outdoor education providers, champions from the youth sector who are running some of the most incredible programmes and making a real difference to our next generation, some of the best adventurous travel and gap year providers, hugely experienced directors from business and the third sector, education and Multi Academy Trust leaders, founders of a specialist adventure activity insurance, former senior leaders from the uniform services and many other specialists in their field. The experience, energy and enthusiasm in the room was almost electric.
The general vibe of the evening and the emails of thanks have highlighted that we can’t leave it another ten years before doing this again, so watch this space.
